Join NowPower, according to Elizabeth A. M. Barrett's theory, is the capacity to participate knowingly in change. Some people refer to this type of power as mind power or empowerment.
Power has four inseparable dimensions: awareness, choices, freedom to act intentionally, and involvement in creating change. Power is being aware of what one is choosing to do, feeling free to do it, and doing it intentionally.
The four power dimensions are measured by 12 characteristics using the Power as Knowing Participation in Change® Tool. These characteristics are the belief systems that inhibit or enhance our personal power by organizing life decisions concerning how we participate in change and realize the power of the mind.
The four dimensions manifest in two types of personal power: power-as-control and power-as-freedom. Both types manifest in innumerable forms. While power is value free, neither "good nor bad" in and of itself in terms of the four dimensions, we as individuals or groups can label the types and forms in which power manifests as constructive or destructive. Power-as-freedom is empowering; power-as-control is disempowering. Power-as-freedom is a state of mind.
The power of mind and the power in the mind will allow you to make a switch to find your own power-as-freedom and to participate knowingly in changing your life.
Power-Imagery Profile and Process is designed to increase personal power and to guide you in further understanding and developing your power-as-freedom through imagery and Power Plan techniques that will teach you in less than 30 days how to change your life without harming anyone else.
