Join NowDR.ELIZABETH AND DR. JERRY EPSTEIN met in 1989. Elizabeth was referred to Jerry by her teacher and mentor Martha E. Rogers, RN; ScD; FAAN from New York University for further study of the imagery process. Elizabeth previously had an article accepted for publication on imagery in the Journal of Holistic Nursing. Jerry had studied the imagery process for many years with Madame Colette Aboulker-Muscat of Jerusalem, and had established a school for healthcare professionals and the public in New York City. Jerry and Elizabeth quickly discovered that their work was based in a similar worldview that sees reality as acausal, non-linear, pandimensional, and spiritual. Soon Elizabeth and Jerry were two of the investigators in a study funded by the National Institutes of Health, Office of Alternative Medicine, that demonstrated that persons with asthma who practiced mental imagery had a statistically significant increase in power, along with a decrease in use of medications with no deterioration in pulmonary function as measured in a pulmonary function laboratory. In addition to this quantitative study, a qualitative study also validated that these persons with asthma experienced a greater sense of power in relation to their awareness, choices, freedom to act intentionally, and involvement in creating change. Two articles published findings from these studies. Elizabeth and Jerry have presented at the same conferences and professional meetings and have used each others' work in their private practices and teaching endeavors. So the Power-Imagery Process was a natural evolution of these professional endeavors. We (Elizabeth and Jerry) are excited to share with you this 21-day program that is being presented here for the first time.

A statistically significant number of participants decreased their use of medications with no deterioration in pulmonary functioning as measured in the pulmonary function laboratory, and they experienced themselves as more powerful. This research, published in two seminal articles, was funded by the National Institutes of Health and was conducted in conjunction with Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. Currently, she and Dr. Epstein are exploring the power-imagery process in relation to a neurological disturbance, Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease, in affiliation with the Hereditary Neuropathy Foundation.

Gerald N. Epstein, MD, is a foremost practitioner of integrative healthcare for healing and self-transformation. Trained as a Freudian analyst, he turned his attention from this direction in 1974 to study the therapeutic uses of the imagination under Madame Colette Aboulker-Muscat of Jerusalem. Since then, he has been a pioneer in the use of Mental Imagery for treating physical and emotional problems. As the Epstein Mental Imagery Model evolved over the years, he has become a leading exponent of the Western spiritual tradition and its application to healing and therapeutics.
In 1981, as a result of his clinical experiences, he wrote Waking Dream Therapy. Dr. Epstein authored Healing Visualizations in 1989, now considered the classic book on the therapeutic use of mental imagery. Inspired by the mystical messages of the Bible and the Western spiritual tradition, he wrote Healing Into Immortality (1994), a clear account of the reasons and remedies for illness. In his book, Climbing Jacob's Ladder, he takes the reader on an experiential journey through the Bible showing you how to live the lives of some of the most important figures of our ancient heritage. In May 2003, Dr. Epstein published The Natural Laws of Self-Healing, a set of 8 CDs and Tapes produced by Nightingale-Conant that teaches a unique method to heal oneself. It has received acclaim throughout the world. This was followed up in 2007 by his unique and original healing method, The Phoenix Process:1 Minute a Day to Health, Longevity, and Well-Being (6CDs). And in 2010 came Emotional Mastery: Life Transformation Through Higher Consciousness (6CDs).
Dr. Epstein maintains a private practice in New York and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. He is Director of The American Institute for Mental Imagery, a New York State Regents chartered post-graduate training center for health care practitioners. In addition, he holds public classes and workshops in imagery, dreams and Kabbalah. He is the author of six books and 35 articles and has appeared on numerous national TV and radio shows, as well as interviews in national magazines. He has been a keynote speaker at conferences and lectures worldwide. In addition Dr. Epstein conducts research in mindbody healthcare. He, along with Dr. Barrett, completed a study funded by the National Institutes of Health Office of Alternative Medicine that demonstrated the therapeutic effects of mental imagery in adults with asthma. He published the findings along with Dr. Barrett and associates in two articles. He is currently engaged with Dr. Barrett in the use of the Power-Imagery Process in the treatment of Charcot-Marie-Tooth, a hereditary neurological disorder affecting one of every 2500 Americans. He has completed research at James Madison University that demonstrated the effectiveness of using mental imagery for increasing heart rate coherence.
